Some information regarding PS3 YLOD and our repair methods used.

In most cases, the problem is a result of the console overheating and due to the consoles heat up, cool down nature, Cold solder joints appear underneath the CPU and GPU (RSX) chips. A signal is sent to the console indicating that there is a problem in this area and as a result, the only way to display this is by displaying a YLOD.

In 90% of YLODs, the fault lies within the area of the CPU and GPU. To treat this, the console needs to undergo a treatment where these chips need to be reflowed. This involves heating the chips up to a temperature of around 200c for a period of time which will allow the solder balls to liquefy then reform as a new joint. This process is similar to what we do for XBOX 360 RROD repairs. Too much temperature and the solder balls will liquefy too much and subsequently collapse.

We currently perform the repairs and provide a 3-Month warranty which is included in the price.
